Unarmed WHITE man shot dead by police - where'a Al?

Oh look! An unarmed WHITE male shot dead by cops who mistook the Playstation controller he was holding for a gun, presumably. This seems far less justified than the Sean Bell shooting - the kid hadn't threatened to shoot anybody and he didn't attempt to mow down a cop with his car - and yet where's the media circus? Where's all the indignation over more "police brutality"? Where's the crowds of white people screaming "death to pigs" and "shoot back", like these blacks?

Where's the white community leaders threatening to spill blood a la Charles Barron?

See the difference?

You won't hear a peep from Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or any other of the black "leaders" who purport to be "civil rights activists". The leftist rags won't be printing any scathing editorials. Why? Because these people care about non-whites and non-whites only, that's why. They perceive injustice as something that only happens to black people, or something only worth caring about when it happens to black people. The shooting of an unarmed white kid means nothing to them. All we hear is "the cops don't shoot white people dead, only blacks". This, however, is an outright lie as this article shows. Ignoring all the usual specious left-wing reasoning within, some interesting points are raised regarding police shootings in Cincinnati, namely
  1. From 1976 to 1988, 56% of those killed by police were white and 42% were black.
  2. Blacks were killed disproportionately.

So it's simply not true - there are plenty of white people killed by cops, in fact, maybe there are even more whites than blacks killed, I can't find any national statistics. The fact that blacks are killed disproportionately is in all likelyhood because blacks get into violent and deadly situations so much more often. Blacks are seven times as likely as whites to commit murder, and while blacks and leftists invariably dismiss this statistic as being a factor of "racist arrest rates", what is also interesting is that blacks are six times as likely as whites to be murdered. Murder victimization rates aren't based on racist arrest rates, they're based on death rates. Unless you seriously want to believe that the way the government counts dead bodies is racist, the logical conclusion is simply that blacks are involved in violence more than whites and that explains why blacks are killed by police disproportionately. Unfortunately, the religion of political correctness forbids the consideration of any explanations except those which absolve blacks of all blame and point the finger at "racism" instead.

It's interesting to read this excellent article about Amadou Diallo and the way racial rabble rousers - especially the New York Times - behaved disgracefully and did nothing but create through their own actions the very atmosphere of paranoia they claimed to "just reporting". It looks like we're headed the same way with Sean Bell.

Black Panthers bring shame upon themselves again

Sorry, the "New Black Panthers" or whatever they're calling themselves these days. Who cares? They always have been and always will be an intellectually backward organization who, like Sharpton and Barron, seem intent on keeping ghetto black minds ignorant for the next thousand years at least.

Predictably, their protest march in Queens was characterized by downright bone-headedness.
"Those bastards should be in jail!" shouted one Black Panther as he led a tense protest in Queens yesterday against the police shooting of Sean Bell.
Oh really? Does this include the two black officers involved in the shooting? This would seem to contradict point 8 of the NBP's "10 Point Program" as outlined on their website:

8. We want freedom for all Black Men and Black Women held in international, military, federal, state, county, city jails and prisons. We believe that all Black People and people of color should be released from the many jails and prisons because they have not received a fair and impartial trial. ‘Released’ means ‘released’ to the lawful authorities of the Black Nation.
Presumably those two cops, under the wishes of the New Black Panthers, should be jailed (those bastards!) and immediately released for being black (my black brothers!). Seriously, I'm left wondering how they would approach this dilemma. What's most likely is that they would spew some hastily improvised rhetoric about "misguided brothers" being "kidnapped" by the "white oppressors" and "forced to shoot their own brothers and sisters". Or maybe they'd be denounced as "traitors" and as such exempt from the 10 Point Program.

The programs childish naivety betrays the Panthers as a group of simple minded boneheads who enjoy dressing in uniform and basking in the respect of the most ignorant of the ghetto black community - the only respect idiots like this are every going to attract. They epitomize the tendency of the African-American left to blame everyone but black people for the shortcomings of their communities. In this respect, attitudes such as theirs stand firm as the #1 obstacle in the progress of ghetto blacks today.

Caseem Jacobs, a self confessed member of the "Bloods" gang appeared to feel that the ignorant rhetoric of Shabazz was not heaping enough shame on black ghetto culture, not by a long shot:
"Soon, it's going to be an eye for an eye," said Jacobs, whose face was shrouded by a red handkerchief and dark shades.
As I've said before, the only way to deal with savage thugs like this is to treat them as terrorists. As the black columist Stanley Crouch has pointed out before, street gangs like the Bloods have, in LA alone, been responsible for around 10,000 violent murders since 1980 - that's three times the number of blacks lynched in the States between 1877 and 1900, the highest tide of racial murders in our nations history. In other words, thugs like Jacobs have brought more blood and more pain to Black America than any cops - thousands of times over. Until we see blacks marching through the streets demanding an end to this self-inflicted carnage, until we see blacks holding banners denouncing this barbaric and evil gang culture (as oppposed to celebrating it) then and ONLY then will we begin to see light at the end of the tunnel for these people. I believe in fact that the problem with the NYPD is that they are trying to deal with savagery in black neighborhoods that should really be dealt with by the military.

We can always count on Al Sharpton to say something stupid at these rallies:

"Recklessness will only make it look like Sean Bell and his friends were reckless and deserved what they got," said Sharpton.

Actually Al, what makes Sean Bell and friends appear reckless is their behaviour on the night, which included getting into a fight, threatening to come back and shoot people, then running over a cop. But whatever.

I'm a (cautious) fan of the New York Post these days - it's frequently been the only one to provide a voice to those who tell it like it is and who aren't afraid of the Big Bad Politically Correct Wolf, as this "cut the crap" op-ed piece by Adam Brodsky proves:

Start with a fact that every cop surely knows: While the victim of an accidental police shooting is likely to be black, so too is the perp when cops are killed.

Of 21 NYPD officers shot to death in the line of duty since 1994, police records show that 14 (67 percent) were killed by African-Americans, four (19 percent) by Hispanics and three (14 percent) by whites. (In one other case, the killers included one black and five Hispanics.)

And, yes, New York cops do confront blacks more than they do whites. But that's because blacks are disproportionately involved with crime - both as victims and as perps.
In other words, Brodsky shares my opinion that the only reason why these shootings happen so disproportionately to black kids is simply because their behaviour puts them in such desperate situations with the cops more often than anyone else. As long as leftist blacks continue to ignore the disease of thug culture and direct their wrath at fictional Boogeymen like "the cops" and "whitey", then the mayhem will continue. Instead, far too many of them seem to think that more thug culture is the answer (see protest above), a sentiment akin to a smoker believing the only cure for his lung cancer is more cigarettes. Black militance has only ever brought violence and incarceration to the black population, with no progress made at all. In fact, after the noble cause of the MLK civil rights movement subsided and made way for the theatrics of the Black Power movement as John McWhorter points out, ghetto blacks have fared progressively worse. McWhorter stands as one of the most reasoned, objective voices in black academia today and his analysis of the problems of black America should be read by everyone.

Cops: 4th Man had gun

Todays New York Post throws some very interesting new facts into the arena - not that this will have any effect on the cop-haters and racial rabble rousers who are determined to use the shooting - justified or not - as an excuse to dig black heels in for another 50 years of self-destructive, paranoid seperatism.

Apparantly cops have found a witness who saw the mystery "fourth man" holding a gun next to Bells car. If true, this will devestate the anti-police movement and show that something clearly was about to go down:
The witness identified Jean "Mo" Nelson as the gun-toting man who fled the scene of the shooting that killed groom-to-be Sean Bell outside a Queens strip club on the morning of his wedding.
Not only that, it seems to look like the cop did identify himself as such before Bell chose to use his car as a deadly weapon against him:

Witnesses, including the one who claims to have seen Nelson with the gun, allegedly also told investigators they saw the undercover cop, who later opened fire, lean over the hood of the car with badge in hand and identify himself
At this stage in the game, I'm prepared to admit that this information has not yet reached "established fact" status and that it's certainly not written in stone. The man, Jean "Mo" Nelson (I wonder if he signs his job applications that way) adamantly denies he was armed. It's interesting to note that he's not denying that he was the fourth man and was there - which is seemingly at odds with the statement made by lawyers for the 2 wounded men, Benefield and Guzman:

The wounded men, Benefield, 31, and Guzman, 26, have denied there was a fourth man, said their lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein.

"There was no fourth man - period - end of story," Rubenstein said Thursday. "I think the fact that [the cops] haven't found a gun speaks for itself."

Actually, Rubenstein, the fact that the cops haven't found a gun says one thing and one thing only - that they haven't found a gun. If five minutes of looking fails to yield a needle in a haystack does that mean there is no needle? I'm constantly amazed at the illogical rhetoric spewed by the lawyers of men like these. Although I guess that's what they're paid to do.

So Benefield and Guzman deny there was a fourth man. Nelson doesn't deny he was the fourth man but denies having a gun. Witnesses allegedly told cops he did have a gun. They also said that Oliver, the cop who was hit by Bells car and who fired the first shots, cleary identified himself as a cop and was showing his badge. This doesn't suprise me as this is generally what undercover cops do when it's time to blow their cover. What would be the point of an undercover cop confronting thugs suspected of carrying guns without giving himself the immense advantage of cop status? As far as he was concerned, each and every one of those men could have had a gun. If this was the case and he really did draw his weapon and start shooting without identifying himself, as the injured men claim, the chances are he would have been killed immediately. When it's bust-time, you identify yourself. Otherwise there's no point, unless you're suicidal. I believe by far and away the strongest possibility is that Oliver identified himself and that's when a drunken Bell thought, like most of his ghetto brethen probably would - "f*ck you cop, I'm flooring it". In which case his death was entirely self inflicted.

So what has portly shit-stirrer Al Sharpton been up to in todays press? Oh, just the usual stuff. Talking out of his ass. I tried to think of a slightly more intellectual and creative way of saying that but I couldn't.

"They took his life, but we can't let them take his legacy," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who was repeatedly answered with cheers and "amens" from the overflow crowd. "We must give Sean a legacy; a legacy of justice; a legacy of fairness. We don't hate cops, we don't hate race, we hate wrong."

What was his legacy? That he devestated those he left behind by making the same kind of bad choices that get so many thousands of ghetto kids killed every year and did it the night before his wedding to boot? The poorest strata of ghetto black America has been coaxed into the blame game mentality by the well-meaning but naive and kak-handed left since the 60's. They refuse to look inwardly in the face of the carnage which kills so many of their youth and yet in the comparitively rare cases when cops shoot one of them dead in the process of risking their own lives to protect black communties, they explode in anger and hatred. This is understandable, but that doesn't mean those the rage is directed against deserve it.

I am of the firm belief that the anger currently on display in the black community is a form of release. They spend the whole year hearing about and being witness to the most disgusting, senseless acts of violence in their neighborhoods in which innocents, often children, are the victims just as frequently as gang members and drug dealers are. The murder of black youth happens around 6 times the rate of white youth. To hide their outrage at these deaths I believe is a matter of pride for a lot of ghetto blacks - they're not entirely comfortable talking about problems in front of white people when those problems are culture-driven and self inflicted. The same shyness miraculously morphs into militant rage when there is the chance to blame someone else, however. This is one of those times. And when it comes, it's an outlet for the bottled up anger we never saw, the anger they saved from when 2 black cops got executed by thugs on Staten Island and when thugs kill each other over parking spaces and when they do it again a couple of weeks later.

If Sean Bell is to leave a legacy let it not be another 100 years of misery in ghetto black America but the identification of thug culture as the #1 reason why so many ghetto black kids waste their own lives and those of others. Let it be the start of an era in which backward black leaders like Al Sharpton are confined to their rightful place in the trashcans of history and replaced with rational objectivists who really care about the lives of young black men. Let it be the beginning of the end of the war-torn atmosphere which forces cops into tragic situations all too often in ghetto black communities.

Although with the upcoming protest involving the New Black Panthers, the Bloods and the Crips, I don't hold out too much hope.

The Ignorance Continues

The Ascending Lark is starting this blog in response to the shooting of Sean Bell in Queens on Saturday, 25th November 2006. If it goes well, I will continue to document and comment on stories mainly in the New York area, but also whatever comes up. We'll play it by ear.

Quite frankly, I'm disgusted to the point of feel nauseous. Not by the shooting itself - it is my opinion that if you live by the sword you should be prepared to die by the sword - but by the outrageous and ignorant reaction to it both by the black community of New York and most of the press.

For those who haven't yet heard about the case, you can read about it here.

Without having been there, nobody can be 100% sure of the facts. But a skeletal outline has been established over the last few days - that cops were on an undercover operation in a seedy strip join in Queens renowned for drugs, guns and prostitution, that Sean Bell and his friends had - quite recklessly in my opinion - decided to spend Bells last night as a single man (and indeed, as a living human being) in this same joint. We know that an undercover cop saw evidence of a gun inside the club and that when Bell and friends got into an altercation with some other men outside, they made threats of gun violence. When undercover cops attempted to stop this crap going down, Bell drove his car at one of them and his friend apparantly reached for his waistband.

This information apparantly wasn't enough to stop spineless wimp Mayor Bloomberg inexplicably declaring that the men had done nothing wrong that night. It also failed to prevent him from saying he believed the shooting was unjustified, even as he hypocritically warned others not to jump to conclusions before all the facts were in.

Let me make one thing clear. Black inner-city thug culture was responsible for Sean Bells death, not the NYPD. The only reason the cops on the scene reacted like they did was because they know what goes down in black New York and they're well aware of the very real dangers contained within. For anyone who isn't aware, this is what happens. Young blacks kill each other over nothing and what's more they do it at around 7 times the rate of whites. Such rates of violence put some American inner-cities above Iraq in terms of civilian deaths.

It is thus fair to characterize some neighborhoods of New York as war zones and to bear that in mind when considering what is and what isn't acceptable policing. The police had every reason to fear that Bell and his friends were about to commit a serious drive by shooting of the kind that happens all the time - a dispute in or outside a club, after which someone returns soon after and sprays innocent patrons with gunfire. They absolutely had to be stopped at that point and the premature notion that they were completely innocent of any bad intentions is delusional and naive bordering on the insane. There is every reason to accept the possibility that by firing upon Sean Bells car, cops saved the lives of innocent people.

Blacks and leftists will point out that when police shoot unarmed people dead by mistake, they are almost always black. But they won't entertain the idea that the reason this is so is because black thug culture simply places blacks into these situations far more frequently than anyone else. If Sean Bell and his friends hadn't gone to a desperately seedy club renowned for drugs and guns, gotton into yet another pointless thug altercation and given the explicit impression that they were about to commit a drive by shooting - then rammed a police officer and appeared to reach for their waistband - the cops wouldn't have fired 50 rounds at them and Sean Bell would be happily married today. But they did, and he's not.

So what of these 50 rounds? My thoughts are - what of it? If someone was being attacked with a car, if someone inside the car looked like they were going for a gun, if the bullets from one cop were coming out of the other side of the vehicle and led other cops to believe they were being fired upon from within, then 50 bullets sounds plausible to me. This is a war zone remember...and the men had given the impression they were about to commit a shooting. This is the kind of behaviour that gets you shot in the hood, it's as simple as that. If ghetto thugs (who are terrorists and should be treated as such) hadn't created an environment in which deadly shootouts can happen at any place at any time, then the cops reaction to Bells behaviour needn't have been so desperate.

So far, I have yet to hear any condemnation of the behaviour of these men in the press, nor of the culture which creates situations in which deadly force is tragic but unavoidable. The fact is that the NYPD should be considered soldiers in the line of duty and blessed for risking their lives every day of the week to make some of the most barbaric neighborhoods in America safer for the innocent people who have no choice but to live in them. How many black lives does the NYPD save every year? Every day they are shot at. They are spat at. Rocks are thrown at them from rooftops. They charge into buildings not knowing if they'll get out alive. They have vicious pitbulls sicced upon them, they are attacked with dirty needles. Every day they see the gory results of everyday ghetto savagery. Faces blown off. Hands blown off. Spilled guts. Shot babies. They're at war! Last Saturdays shooting wasn't a racist murder, it wasn't a corrupt abuse of power, it was an understandable reaction to a very real offensive threat which unfortunately took the life of a young man on his wedding day.

Sean Bell didn't deserve to die, of course he didn't - and it is heartbreaking and tragic especially given his wedding day - but to ignore the fact that his own behaviour contributed a lot to his own death is insane. A subway graffiti artist who trips onto the 3rd rail and gets fried doesn't deserve to die, but that doesn't mean he isn't responsible for his own death. Those rabidly indignant over Sean Bells shooting are incurably fixated upon the lefts "oppressed/oppressor" model in which everything must be described in terms of an evil oppressor oppressing a helpless innocent. In such a model, those identified as "oppressed" cannot ever be blamed for their actions, even if it means conciously ignoring inconvenient facts.

The behaviour of Al Sharpton, Charles Barron and other black leaders has been nothing short of outrageous. The careers of Sharpton and Barron depend on them keeping the poor black population of New York in a perpetual state of anger, resentment and paranoia. Without that atmosphere, both men would be nothing. Charles Barrons thinnly veiled threat of civil violence would have spelled the end of the career of a white councillor - not so a black councillor who knows that black leaders can say whatever the hell they like and be spared the consequences.

As Sharpton and Barron spewed their beloved venom and as crowds of black people marched with signs reading "stop the violence", I was immediately led to wonder where these people were with their anger when a 2 year old baby was shot to death strapped into his car seat by ghetto thugs playing at cowboys and indians or when a 30 year old man shoots dead a 3 year old girl in a deadly tantrum, or when an innocent man is shot walking to work in Manhattan or when 2 cops are coldy executed in a senseless act of savage barbarism in Staten Island or when Busta Rhymes' bodyguard is pointlessly murdered during the filming of a rap video and he refuses to put the family out of their misery by telling cops whodunnit.

Well, not suprisingly today has brought a fresh batch of ignorance and inanity to the table in the name of Sean Bell. As pandering leftist journalists continue to misrepresent the incident for their own political ends, the black community of New York and everyone associated with the "victims" seem intent on convincing the world that trying to deal with the menace of black thuggery itself is a racist endeavor. The simple fact is, these people believe they should not be policed and subject to the law.

Take today. Police have every reason to suspect that the man seen running away from the car was taking a gun away from the scene. When Guzman said "yo, go get my gun" was he lying? I doubt it. Black thugs make these kind of threats all the time, and carry them out. Even if there was no "fourth person" and no gun in the car at any time that night, the possibility that the men were on their way to pick up a gun from somewhere else was something the police had to act on.

The investigation into the shooting must determine whether or not there was a gun and a fourth man at the scene - so how are cops supposed to do this? They have to find the guy. Investigations like this invariably turn up other criminals who are then arrested for other offences - in this case, they arrested 4 men and recovered a loaded handgun with the serial number scratched off, which means one more illegal handgun out of the hands of violent ghetto thugs and subsequent lives saved.

Not that this has any bearing on the pandering opinion of leftist Daily News columnist Juan Gonzalez, who apparently has trouble understanding why on earth cops would possibly raid addresses in a legitimate investigation into the death of a young man.

Thus, in a bizarre twist almost as inexplicable as the original 50-shot fusillade, the NYPD is raiding homes and picking up young blacks in southeastern Queens in an all-out effort to locate an alleged "fourth man," a man investigators say was at the scene of the shooting and fled.
Just how naive do you have to be to call the raiding of homes in a police investigation "inexplicable" or "bizarre"? And why the phrase "picking up young blacks"? Is anyone else as stunned and disgusted as me with the desperate and shameful attempts of leftists to squeeze every last possible drop of racial tension out of this story? Does Gonzalez seriously believe that cops should forbid proper passage of an investigation just because they are dealing with black people? There is no doubt in my mind that the left, along with racial demagogues like Al Sharpton and Charles Barron, are 100% responsible for perpetuating racial tension and ghetto ignorance in this country. As long as the left has its exploitative, parasitic tentacles around the ghetto black population of America, they will remain ignorant and hopeless.

The trouble with people like Gonzalez is that they're eternal patsies. They don't even let themselves toy with the idea that ghetto folk will simply lie through their teeth en masse when it comes to their little "us and them" games with police - even in the face of the evidence against them. So when he reports

"If you don't tell us what we want to hear, you know, you can get five years," she says one cop told her.
it is clear that Gonzalez believes her. A woman from a community in which cop hating is virtually a religion? Telling the truth about her interaction with the cops? Seriously, what are the chances? What makes people like Gonzales so reluctant to simply put the crack pipe down for one minute and think about reality - you know, the factual correctness as opposed to the political correctness? Sharpton says the difference between last weekend's shooting and the infamous killing of Amadou Diallo is

"With Diallo, we only had the testimony of the policemen in the foyer. This time, we have seven or eight people who witnessed this shooting."

Yes indeed. Seven or eight New York ghetto blacks who have been taught from childhood that when the chips are down against whitey, all negroes must stick together. The trouble is, you can't bring up this aspect of black ghetto culture in court in determining whether or not a witnesses account is credible. There's your political correctness for you again. A black man has been killed by police. Of course the cop didn't identify himself before he started shooting, of course the thug didn't swing a scooter at cops last summer. Ghetto blacks like this are unlikely to pass up the chance to:

  1. Exonerate a fellow ghetto black person
  2. Stick one to the cops
but the chances of this being an acceptable defence in court are slim. Cops won't be able to talk about the violent warlike atmosphere that black thugs create in the ghetto and the objective thought processes which lead cops in these neighborhoods to believe they're in mortal danger. Because that stinks of "profiling". Of course we all know that profiling goes on - black cops do it too - but the "official line" is that it doesn't and that's how it'll stay. So a vital piece of the reasoning behind the shooting is forbidden from the defence and that defence will flounder without it. I really feel for these cops right now.

Now, in an unbelievable development, organized ghetto thugs The New Black Panthers have organized a protest rally that they have advertised will be attended by The Bloods and The Crips. Ah, black New York - don't you just love it? The police have said they will attend in force. Looks like some goooooooood watchin!
